Well, it is very quiet in regard to real baseball news. All the rest is off season injuries and possible trades (some of them very far fetching and disheartening…A-Rod to Mets for example) and free-agents (Silva, Lohse and Hernandez declared by starters on the market.)
Real baseball news:
* Francisco “F-Bomb” Liriano is done with rehab and getting ready for Spring Training. Twins fans breathe sigh of relief.
* Torii Hunter won his seventh consecutive Gold Glove award and Santana rightfully got his first.
Non-baseball:
Next week I will be venturing to Vegas with my Aunt K, Stacy and Lucy (who has to be the smartest damn kid in the world) for a week of Sin City. Now, before you start thinking “How fun can it be in Vegas with a toddler” let me just explain we’ll be road tripping outside of the strip and into the desert. You heard it here first folks…this city girl will be at the mercy of the desert. Anyone else have America’s “Horse with No Name” song stuck in their head? Anyways, if you don’t hear from me in two weeks I am probably stranded in the desert trying to ration the hidden bottles of water and power bars I snuck in the trunk. Think Lord of the Flies but with less wild pig hunting.
Ralph: Someone has to stay behind. Piggy…
Jack: [interrupts] Sure, protect Piggy like you always do.
Ralph: Don’t be stupid. What can he do with just one eye?
Creepy…

This indecisions bugging me/Esta undecision me molesta/If you don't want me, set me free/Si no me quieres, librame
Keepers, throw-aways and sinkers
The local news channels were all a-buzz with the “Torii Hunter Files for Free Agency” topic this morning. Fifteen days.
To quote one of my favorite bands (with a little tweaking) “Should he stay or should he go now?/Should he stay or should he go now?/If he goes there will be trouble?/And if he stays it may be double/So come on and let me know/Should he stay or should he go?”
It looks like Silva may be on the market also. It should be interesting to see what happens with that development.
Joe “Twitch ‘n Pitch” Nathan has been signed for six million dollars for 2008. Good news there.
The Anti-Christ in my office is all over the “Let Torii Go” and “Fight to Keep Silva” bandwagon this morning. This is an age old argument amongst the Land O’Cubicles and always ends with me calling him an “Ass Clown.” Well, yes, he is an Ass Clown but this is for a specific reason. He thinks the only reason I want Hunter to stay is because he’s cute and the only reason I want Silva to leave is because he’s not cute. Puh-lease (rolling my eyes like a teenager.) If I wanted to spend game time swooning over hotties I would turn on the fucking WB channel, not go to a baseball game. See, it is a fine line between being a baseball fan and being accused of only watching the sport for the hunks. Ass clown.
Here are some other free agents on the shelf:
Eckstein, Bonds, Colon, Andruw Jones, Rowand, Posada, Rivera, Green, Lo Duca. Oh, and God forbid we forget A-Rod.

Did you know…?
Anoka, Minnesota is the Halloween capital of the world?
Yeah, I happen to call it the Crystal Meth capital of Minnesota but eh…poe-tay-toes, poh-tah-toes. (No offense meant to those who live in the Halloween Capital of the World unless you happen to "cooks the Meth.")
I leave for Vegas in two weeks!
Holy crap! Where did time go? On November 12 I will be hurtling through the sky in a tin machine with Stacy, Lucy and Aunt K. Destination – Vegas Baby! Whilst most people go to Vegas for gambling and ramble-rousing I will be napping, sunning and shopping. Oh, and we will rent a car to hit the desert for some exploring. No snakes, no aliens and no homicidal maniacs need apply.
I won’t be handing out candy in the ‘hood this year!I was invited to attend this play “Cherry Docs” instead. I will gladly pass up on handing out candy to the thugs who don’t even bother to put costumes on. I will gladly skip the worry that each person at my door is going to shove their way in and steal my valuables (iPod, Sidekick, ect.) I will gladly forgo the fear that someone is casing the joint. Now, I wonder if Kris will laugh when I run to and from the car so I don’t get scared by the shadows. Damn Halloween, it isn’t as fun when you are an OCD Freak.

Pissing In My Wheaties and other random things
Well, it appears I picked a fine time to miss a few ugly games. As some of you may know I was incommunicado this weekend due to Girls Family Vacation 2007. I can’t say that I necessarily “missed” seeing the Twins fail to deliver anything spectacular. I watched a little of last night’s game (Monday) until the storm got bad and FSN was flickering. First, I hate West Coast games because they don’t start until 9:00 p.m. and when I have to be to work at 7:00 a.m. that sucks. Laziness aside, I had some hope in the 7th when Baby Jesus (Mauer) tied the game. I thought…hey, this is it; this is Eye of the Tiger!
Denied.
So…moving on. This morning I was told by a co-worker to start preparing for football season since our baseball one will be ending. Well, I couldn’t deck the guy but I did give him a firm “dressing down” for pissing in my Wheaties at 7:15 a.m. (first day back after a long weekend.) Seriously, if you want to mess with the bull you are going to get the verbal horns. Note: I am trying to fit as many random sayings into this entry.
Amy, can you guess who said that to me?
Well, c’est la vie. Today is another day and another game. Let’s hope Garza can live up to his Wonder Boy title and take care of Seattle.
Denied.

In the Ghetto...
Here I am representing Morneausey alongside the statue of Elvis Presley as a boy. This was taken in Tupelo, Mississippi outside of the shack where Elvis was born. Yeah...I saw his tiny little itsy bitsy shack that he was born in. Poor Elvis...note my sarcasm. His "shack" was the same size as my first apartment. How can I follow up my last post where I had a brush with fame (on the Jumbo-screen) and rockstar seats? I don’t think I can so I will just stick with what I know…nothing exciting.
Rewind to Tuesday:
Okay, I said it a million times yesterday…If Baker pitched well I would eat my words.
Well, here I am sitting down to a plate of smack-talk with a side of proved-me-wrong. It doesn’t taste well but I would rather eat my words than lose a game.
Well, enough of turning me into the victim and on to the hero of the game, Baker. He pitched well, he didn’t look freaked out, he seemed stable and managed to keep it together. Great game!!! I wasn’t at the game but I sure watched the whole event (all 12-innings) on the television. When it became stressful I would log onto Pulling a Blyleven and follow their baseball banter.
Fast forward to present time:
It is 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday and I am watching a 5-4 game with the Blue Jays in the lead. I missed the fifth, sixth and seventh inning due to yet another accident on 36th & Park Ave (the suicide corner.) No one was hurt but there was a lot of mad people and a fire truck full of hunky firemen. I was very tempted to bust out my baseball binoculars to watch the action but decided that I would look suspiciously like a freak.
Risa is at the game tonight and I know she is doing me proud by cheering and yelling. I am going to head back to the television to watch the last two innings unfold.

The one time being called a Yankee was funny
It is not that I have been a bad baseball blogger it is that I have been road-tripping through the South (and I don’t mean Iowa.) Whilst sitting in a bar on Beale Street (Memphis) they only showed the Yankee game. Whilst eating ribs in a barbeque joint (Mississippi) I watched another game of the Yankees. I enjoyed a relaxing beer in a Honky Tonk (in Alabama) and surprise; they only had a Yankee game on. No matter where I went America’s darlings were the only ones they showed on the television. Damn you ESPN!!! Give the other guys a freaking chance. Anyways, it appears the Twins did not do so well this past week. Friday (the day after tomorrow) I will be at the game while we play the Washington Nationals. There is a group from my office that are going to the game…I am excited to go to the game but bummed it isn’t with my real baseball peeps. I mean, I don’t think these guys are going to get my running commentary that Amy and I usually enjoy.
Well, not much to talk about today but I will start again as soon as the ball starts going.
Oh, here is a photo I took in Memphis of a billboard advertising FSN South. I am personally an FSN North girl.
